Play Baby Play! by Marilyn Janovitz is the fun new companion book to Go Baby Go!and Baby Baby Baby! In this story, Janovitz shows us all the fun ways baby plays, from books, to balls, to musical instruments. Baby has so much fun playing, by the end of the book he has fallen asleep!
Both of my boys (ages 2 and 18 months) read this book with me. They enjoyed the other books in this series, so I was confident they would enjoy this one as well. My older son enjoyed identifying the different activities in the illustrations (“He’s playing the drums!” or “He has a hat!”). The play group the baby in the story attends is very similar to the story hour we go to at the library, so he could relate very well. My younger son pointed to the pictures and jabbered, which may not seem like much, but from a toddler that is high praise! The pictures are colorful and fun, and the repetition of words in each sentence makes the story fun for little ears to hear.
Play Baby Play! is a great read for babies and toddlers, and I would recommend adding it to your young child’s library, or perhaps making it a gift at your next baby shower. It’s a fun, educational book that your child will want to read again and again.
Play Baby Play! is 24 pages long and is published by Sourcebooks.
